About 1,000 people came together on April 23rd in Foley Square to protest China’s Communist Party and promote a democratic China. Among the almost 200 organizations that helped organize the large-scale protest, were associations like the Chinese Republican Party and Amnesty China. Laura Hatton, one of the organizers of the protest, said it showed people were waking up in China and was meant to encourage people to resign from the party. Demonstrators marched from Foley Square up to the Chinese embassy.
