SEA/WORLD Lisa Studier’s first solo exhibition consists of an underwater world of fish and other sea creatures rendered in rich color layers and textures. A STRUGGLE TO OVERCOME CULTURAL, POLITICAL BARRIERS “No Foreigners Beyond this Point” is set in Guangdong, China in 1980, just after the horrors of the Cultural Revolution. AWARD WINNING ARTIST TO SHOW WORKS Sidney Goodman is considered one of America’s most important figurative artists and is known for his paintings and drawings which mix meticulous observation with expressive distortion. THEME PARK INSPIRED ART The “cultural jamming” and collage group Negativland parodies the theme park, catapulting us into deconstructed attractions of the gallery as entertainment destination in the exhibition Negativlandland. ART OF OPTICAL ILLUSIONS In “Innervisions:Projected” Harriet Regina Marion presents a solo show of recent works in mixed media. PIXXX Times Square in the 1970s, a collection of more than 20 photos by Flo Fox, will be on display from Sept. 1-30 in the window of the Citibank branch at 717 Sixth Ave. at W. 23rd St.. Fox, 60, a photographer based in Chelsea, has been recording the defining images of the neighborhood and the city for decades.
