Fashion designers recycle fabrics

The Lower East Side Ecology Center will be hosting a one-of-a-kind citywide rummage sale and fashion show on Sat., Aug. 16. Revamped! encourages people to bring their old clothes to one of the drop-off points in exchange for coupons redeemable at the Aug. 16 event.

On the 16th from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m., one can rummage through other people’s “treasures” at the community garden at Avenue B and Sixth St. The Revamped! Fashion Show will take place from 7:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Local designers such as Gaelyn and Cianfrani, Sistahs Harlem and Olivia Marino Private Collection will show their designs made from recycled textiles and recovered materials.

People are asked to drop off their used clothing, cleaned and bagged, at the L.E.S.E.C. compost stand in Union Sq. on Aug. 11, 13 and 15 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Donations should be brought to the community garden on Avenue B and Sixth St.
