The FDNY has posted stunning images of historic fires as part of "Throwback Thursday," from a 1946 nine-alarm fire at the Staten Island ferry terminal to the Telephone Company fire of 1975. St. George ferry terminal, Staten Island, 1946 Photo Credit: Flickr / FDNY On June 25, 1946, a fire that began under a car spread to a paint shop and the support pilings of the St. George ferry terminal on Staten Island. Three people were killed, and more than 250 firefighters and 30 civilians were injured or overcome in the nine-alarm fire, the FDNY wrote on Flickr.
