Considering that the first season of “Russian Doll”, Natasha Lyonne’s excellent series for Netflix, had a “Groundhog Day” setup where Lyonne’s character kept reliving the same day over and over, it shouldn’t be surprising that there is a season two.

Fans of the show (that includes us) are most likely wondering how the writers, who include Lyonne and Amy Poehler, are going to approach another time loop situation. One thing working against them is the fact that they managed to be so clever and funny in the first run that they have set the bar pretty high.

Much of season one was filmed in the East Village and it looks like they are repeating that strategy. Locals didn’t get much info in terms of plot last week if they chanced upon Lyonne filming scenes on the corner of 10th St. and Avenue A where she silently walked through smoke rising from a sidewalk grate, but there was something special about seeing the work in progress that makes one look forward to the results even more.
