In addition to the flower market on Feb. 5 and 6, events are planned all week in Chinatown to celebrate The Year of the Rooster.
Firecracker ceremonies will be held Feb. 9. Two detonations will take place. One will be on the intersection of Mott St. and Bayard St. at noon. The other will be at Market St. and E. Broadway at 2 p.m. At both intersections, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., stages will feature all-day cultural performances by traditional and contemporary singers and dancers.
On Feb. 13, there will be a parade from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., featuring floats, marching bands, musicians, acrobats, magicians and processions by local organizations. The parade will begin at Mott St. and proceed through Chinatown to Worth St. When the parade ends, there will be an outdoor cultural festival on Bayard St.
