Free legal help for businesses

The Neighborhood Entrepreneur Law Project provides free legal guidance to owners of small neighborhood businesses and those starting a small business. Volunteer attorneys are available for consultation on: forming a corporation, partnership, sole proprietorship, L.L.P. or L.L.C.; reviewing and negotiating commercial leases; protecting trademarks and copyrights; preparing sales and service contracts; dealing with employment law matters; reviewing loan documents; and obtaining necessary city, state and federal licenses and registrations. Examples of small businesses that may qualify for assistance include small home-based businesses, small retail stores, market stalls, or housecleaning, delivery or childcare services. Additional information on the project can be found by calling Akira Arroyo, Esq., program director, or Laura Campbell, program coordinator, at 212-382-6633.
