Strouse leaves her mark on a park

On Sat., June 18, there was a small dedication ceremony for Evelyn’s Playground in Union Square Park with Evelyn Strouse’s children. The late Strouse was a tireless advocate for Union Square. Above, from left, Howard Mendes, Susan Kramer, Michael Presser, Jane Ariel, Councilmember Rosie Mendez, Rick Lowenstein, Joseph Hagelman, Gail Fox and Manhattan Borough Parks Commissioner Bill Castro. Ariel and Lowenstein are Strouse’s children. Kramer and Fox are former co-chairpersons of the Union Square Community Coalition. Mendes, Presser and Hagelman are Community Board 5 members.
