Former state Sen. George Onorato died Saturday at the age of 86.
The lifelong Queens resident represented the borough in Albany between 1983 and 2010, serving in several committees including the task force on Waterfront Development.
Further details surrounding Onorato's death were not available.
Western Queens elected officials offered their condolences to Onorato and his family.
"He served western Queens for many years and was a decent and kind man," City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer said in a statement.
"George Onorato will always be part of the fabric of western Queens. He dedicated his long and happy life to serving others and making the communities he represented better places to live," state Senator Michael Gianaris, Onorato's successor, said in a statement.
