GOP candidates to debate
The city’s three Republican mayoral hopefuls will square off in a debate at 7 p.m. Wednesday night on NY1. The hour-long debate will feature supermarket mogul John Catsimatidis, former MTA Chairman Joe Lhota and George McDonald, founder of the homeless charity The Doe Fund.
Groups takes aim at Spitzer
Women’s groups are holding a news conference on the steps of City Hall Wednesday afternoon in an effort to sink former Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s campaign for city comptroller. The groups, including the National Organization for Women, are expected to argue that Spitzer, who resigned as governor in 2008 amid a prostitution scandal, broke federal laws aimed to protect women from the abusive prostitution industry.
Space shuttle exhibit reopens
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum reopens the Space Shuttle Enterprise to the public Wednesday. The shuttle’s old inflatable pavilion was destroyed last October by Superstorm Sandy. A new steel pavilion has been erected in its place.
Mets eye sweep
The Mets, with rookie phenom Zack Wheeler on the mound, will look to complete a three-game sweep of the defending world champion Giants in San Francisco. First pitch is at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday Eastern time.
B.B. King to rock lower Manhattan
Blues legend B.B. King will headline the third-annual Lowdown Hudson Blues Festival on Wednesday night at Brookfield Place in lower Manhattan. The James Hunter Six, a Grammy-nominated blues act, will round out the free show, which begins at 6 p.m.
