West Side elected officials put Jon Bahkshi on notice about how he operates his club, Guest House, 524 W. 27th St., where Jennifer Moore, 18, was drinking before her murder last week.
“The practices that allowed underage people into your club and served [alcohol] to the point of hospitalization demand scrutiny and immediate action to ensure this does not happen again,” said the Aug. 1 letter, drafted by City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and signed by State Senator Tom Duane, Congressmember Jerrold Nadler, Assemblymember Richard Gottfried and Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer.
The letter pointed out that Moore’s girlfriend, also under the legal drinking age of 21, was so drunk that she was taken to the hospital.
The officials have been talking to police and the State Liquor Authority and are “following closely the investigations of Ms. Moore’s death and of the practices of [Bahkshi’s] establishment.”
The letter acknowledges that the club is considering scanners to insure the authenticity of drivers’ licenses and urges requiring a second form of ID for admission. The letter also suggests brighter lights to allow doormen to see if the face of the patron matches the photo ID.
