Investigators said they believe the 45-year-old victim was in the road on 21st Street, just north of 30th Road in Astoria, when he was struck by a dark-colored sedan that was heading south on 21st Street. Police said the driver fled the scene before police arrived shortly before 11 p.m. recommended reading Major crime in NYC by borough Upon arrival, officers discovered the man with severe trauma to his body lying in the roadway, authorities said. The victim was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to police. So far, officials have not released the name of the victim.
