Irish rockers Bono and The Edge of U2 were on the Lower East Side recently filming a video in the Slipper Room at Orchard and Stanton Sts. Seeing all the commotion, Sal Bartolomeo from Rosario’s Pizza across the street came over and got a warm reception from the super group’s lead singer. “I felt I want to shake this guy’s hand,” Bartolomeo recounted. “He’s a good guy, does a lot of good things…. I said, ‘How you doin’ Bono? I’m Sal, best pizza man around the street. You’re the best singer in the world.’ He put his hand on my shoulder and said, ‘Everyone should buy Sal’s pizza — with pepperoni!’ Everyone’s cheering, ‘Hey Sal!’ Afterwards, everyone came into my store and said, ‘Sal, you were with Bono — you cool!’ ”
