A 30-year-old woman was killed while out jogging along a trail she frequented in Spring Creek Park in Howard Beach, Queens, on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, police said.

The body of Karina Vetrano, of Queens, was discovered by a police search party led by her father after her family reported her missing, Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said during a news conference on Wednesday, Aug. 3.

Vetrano’s family grew concerned for her safety after she did not return home and did not answer several phone calls, according to police.

The medical examiner’s office said Vetrano died of strangulation and deemed the case a homicide. So far, no arrests have been made.
