An elderly Kew Gardens Hills man died Wednesday, Dec. 28, nearly three weeks after he was struck by the driver of an SUV near Cunningham Park in Fresh Meadows.

Majer Rosenfeld, 82, of 136th Street, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, according to the NYPD.

Police from the 107th Precinct in Fresh Meadows responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian stuck on 73rd Avenue in the vicinity of Francis Lewis Boulevard just before 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, where they found Rosenfeld lying on the roadway with severe head trauma.

EMS responded to the scene and rushed him to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital.

A preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 52-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a 2022 BMW X4 SUV traveling eastbound on 73rd Avenue when it struck the victim who was crossing 73rd Avenue from north to south mid-block, just east of Francis Lewis Boulevard. The driver remained at the scene of the collision and she was not injured.

There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
