The principals of Beyer Blinder Belle Architects and Planners, left to right, Jack Beyer, Richard Blinder and John Belle, won the 16th annual Landmarks Lion Award of the Historic Districts Council on Mon., Nov. 8, at the council’s benefit dinner at the new Rubin Museum of Art. The award to the firm, which designed the Rubin Museum’s adaptation of a row of 1870 buildings on W. 17th St. off Seventh Ave., was a departure from the usual practice of honoring preservation activists. The firm, founded in 1968, has adapted for reuse such landmarks at the Ellis Island Museum, Grand Central Terminal, South St. Seaport Museum and Rockefeller Center.
