A gunman shot a man twice on Monday in East New York near a school, sending the surrounding into a fit of chaos and fear. 

The incident occurred just before 4:45 p.m. in front of 605 Shepherd Ave., in the 75th NYPD Precinct and across from East New York Middle School of Excellence. 

Upon arrival at the crime scene, officers discovered the victim who had been shot once in the back and once in the left arm. 

Paramedics rushed the bloodied victim to Brookdale Hospital, where he is expected to recover from his injuries.  

The suspects were described as several males wearing all black who fled on foot. 

According to the NYPD, the investigation remains ongoing.

Another seemingly unrelated shooting occurred nearby just a few hours after the afternoon shooting at approximately 9 p.m. at 2237 Linden Boulevard.

The victim was driving his motor vehicle when he was grazed on the head by a bullet causing him to crash his vehicle into an unoccupied parked car.

There remains no suspect description for this shooting and the investigation is ongoing.
