A man was slashed in the hand while riding the subway in Manhattan early Tuesday morning.

Police said the victim was with a family member on a southbound 6 train when he got into an argument with the suspect around 3:15 a.m.

The argument escalated and police said the suspect pulled a knife from his backpack. Police said there was a struggle and the victim was slashed on his middle and ring fingers.

The victim got off the train at Grand Central-42nd Street and was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center for treatment, police said.

The suspect stayed on the train and remains on the loose, according to the NYPD.
