Oil’s not well in the Gulf
Melissa E., an East Villager who plays in a rock band, above, and others were covered with nontoxic fake oil at last Friday’s protest at the Houston St. BP gas station over the gas company’s enormous oil spill. Among the demonstration’s sponsors were Code Pink and Time’s Up, the local cycling and environmental group. After the demo, the monthly Critical Mass bike ride started at Union Square and went right back to the BP gas station, to call further attention to the so-far-unstoppable spill.
