New York's tech industry is leading the city's economic boom and Mayor Bill de Blasio wants more people involved.

He announced Monday the "Five-Borough Tour," a series of public events that will feature panels with leaders from the city's emerging industries. The events will also showcase online hub, which features job openings and other resources.

"More participation in the city's tech community means more innovation, growth, and economic opportunity for New Yorkers -- all of which Digital.NYC fosters," the mayor said in a statement.

The tech industry accounts for 12.6% of the city's workforce, employing 300,000 people and indirectly generating another 250,000 jobs, according to the mayor's office. It has found a home in the five boroughs and nabes including Downtown Brooklyn and Long Island City.
