News NYC weather: Here's what people are saying about the winter storm By Nicole Brown January 22, 2016 4:28 PM Print Share fbShare Tweet Email New Yorkers and visitors don't seem to be too concerned about the forecast for this weekend. Here are what some of them are saying about how they are (or aren't) preparing for the possible blizzard heading toward NYC. "Other than that, I'm just gonna stay in, watch the telly. If it's really bad, I'll just stay in for the weekend." "I think it will be canceled," she said. "I'm staying with my brother. We're planning to go sledding tomorrow and hang out with cousins, so I'm not too worried about it." Photo Credit: Nicole Brown Rizwan Habib, 29, of Brooklyn said he thinks New York can handle whatever this storm brings. "I haven't even prepared for anything as of yet," he said. "I have to be doing things this weekend, and they are going to keep continuing. I think that's the way all New Yorkers are." Photo Credit: Nicole Brown Monica Morales, 20, said she plans to stay inside and put some salt outside her home in Brooklyn. "The only thing I'm worried about is how bad it's going to be for the weekend and if it's gonna be just as bad next week," she said. "If it is, I would hope my college will close." "I don't think it's going to be as bad as they say because it never is," she said. "I'm actually going to visit my friend out in Howard Beach and we plan on just ordering Chinese food." "I'm going to buy some apples to roast tonight, and that's it," she added. Photo Credit: Nicole Brown Charles, 69, is visiting New York from Australia this weekend. "I have an apartment here and it's well stocked with food, and the condominium seems to be well equipped," he said. "As a visitor it's almost exciting. It's a novelty." Photo Credit: Nicole Brown Shanida Marks, 38, of the Bronx picked up a few groceries at Trader Joe's for the weekend, but she doesn't anticipate too much snow. "Down south, my sister-in-law sent me a picture -- all they got was a sheet, I call it a sprinkle, and they're already closing school," she said. "In New York, you better have snow up to your neck, then they're closing schools." Photo Credit: Nicole Brown Stacey Topazi, 41, is visiting from Atlanta. Despite not living in the North for a while, she said she isn't concerned. "I just bought some big, ugly snow boots," she said. "I'm not used to this."
