P.S. 41 is GELL’in’ for new green roof with fundraiser

P.S. 41 will hold its first Futurehood event on Sat., Oct. 4, in the schoolyard behind the school, an all-day event to raise money for the GELL project, the Greenroof Environmental Literacy Laboratory, to be built next year on the roof of the school at W. 11th St. and Sixth Ave.

The Oct. 4 event begins at 11 a.m. and goes on into the night with a pig roast, food tastings, cooking demonstrations by Mike Anthony of Gramercy Tavern and Patrick Connolly of Bobo restaurant, live music and a raffle to raise money to build the 19,000-square-foot urban garden for science and environmental education on the school’s roof.

The event is sponsored by Carlos Suarez, owner of Bobo restaurant, and the P.S. 41 Parent Teacher Association.

Access to the schoolyard is by two gates on Greenwich Ave. opposite Charles St. For more information, visit www.ps41.org/ps41/ps41-green-initiative/the-gell-project/.
