Grocery holdup A man who entered the grocery store at 103 Church St. at 9:30 a.m. Tues., Feb. 17 forced his way behind the counter with his hand in his pocket and said, “I have a gun. Do you want me to kill you?” police said. The suspect, described as a black man about 5’7” and 160 pounds, grabbed $500 from the cash register and fled on foot to the Park Pl. subway station at Church St., police said.
Robbed at gunpoint A Staten Island man, 19, was talking with a friend at the corner of Whitehall and Water Sts. at 7:25 p.m. Fri., Feb. 13 when three men approached and one of them pointed a gun at the victim’s face, police said. The three suspects took a cell phone, ID, $125 in cash, and a jacket from the victims and ran north on Water St., police said. The victims were not cooperating in the investigation, police said
Piling on? A person connected to the Sports Museum of America, which was on the second floor of 26 Broadway, told police on Fri., Feb. 27 that he discovered that someone had stolen two 42-inch TV monitors, with a total value of $5,000. The monitors had last been seen two days earlier, police said. The crime occurred a few days after the museum closed to the public for financial reasons.
Snatched iPod A thief came up behind a boy, 16, at the corner of Chambers St. and W. Broadway at 12:30 a.m. Sun., Feb. 8, snatched the victim’s iPod and fled, police said. The victim was only able to describe the suspect as white.
Peddler arrested An officer who arrested Seydi Soumare, 28, in front of 317 Canal St. near Mercer St. for peddling counterfeit DVDs at 5:30 p.m. Fri., Feb. 13 was injured slightly when the suspect resisted the arrest, police said. Soumare was charged with assaulting a police officer.
Faulty work A resident of an apartment at 80 Nassau St. near Fulton, let in two men at 11 a.m. Thurs., Feb. 5 when they told him they came to fix a leak in the bathroom, police said. After they left, the victim discovered that $50 in cash and a laptop computer were missing. The suspects, both described as white with Spanish accents, 5’7” and 160 pounds, had not been sent to fix anything, police said.
Subway station bump A woman told police at the First Precinct that she discovered her wallet with credit cards and $150 in cash were gone when she went to pay for her meal at Woo Lea Oak restaurant at 148 Mercer St. on Saturday evening, Feb. 28. The victim recalled that someone bumped her as she was leaving the N,R subway station at Prince St. and Broadway.
Soho shoplift arrest A security guard at the Apple store at 103 Prince St. stopped a woman trying to walk out of the place at 6:30 p.m. Sun., March 1 without paying for three computer application discs worth a total of $1,579 stuffed in her jacket, police said. Jennifer Thorson, 27, was charged with grand larceny.
Car stolen A Tribeca resident told police on Sun., March 2 that his 1997 purple Dodge Caravan, which he had parked on Feb. 1 in front of 10 Hubert St., was gone the following day, Feb. 2. Police were trying to find out this week why the victim waited a month before reporting the theft.
Bank robbery A man walked into the TD Bank branch at 2 Wall St. at 4:18 p.m. Tues., Feb. 17 and passed a teller a note saying he had a gun and that three confederates were waiting outside the bank and demanded money in 100s and 50s. The suspect, described as a 6’3” black man weighing about 180 pounds, took $1,710 and his demand note and fled on foot, police said.
Wallet lift A woman patron of Dos Caminos Restaurant at 475 Broadway between Grand and Broome Sts. put her bag on the back of her chair at brunch on Saturday morning Feb. 28 and discovered when she went to pay the tab at 10 a.m. that her wallet with credit cards and $50 in cash had been stolen, police said.
