Dies from knifing

A New Jersey man who got into a fight after being ejected from Strata, a club at Broadway and W. 21st St., died after he was stabbed outside of the place at 2:50 a.m. Sat., Aug. 18, police said. Jean Muller, 25, of Elizabeth, N.J., was declared dead at St. Vincent’s Hospital about a half-hour after the stabbing.

Police said the victim had been at Strata with a friend and had been ejected from the club after he tried to grope a woman patron. Muller got into an argument and a pushing match outside Strata and the stabbing was apparently not related to his being ejected from the club, according to police. There were surveillance cameras inside Strata but none outside the club, police said. There were no arrests and police are investigating the case.

Arrest 4 in Village

Police arrested four suspects in connection with the beating and robbery of two men on Sixth Ave. and W. Third St. at 2:15 a.m. Sat., Aug 18. Anthony Nunez, 16; James Tucker, 27; Akeem Osondairo, 17; and Dominick Caraballo, 19, were apprehended soon after the attack. Police said the suspects knocked the men down and made off with a bag one of them was carrying. One of the victims had two teeth knocked out, police said. The four were charged with robbery and assault.

Flatiron sex assault

A man followed a woman, 20, into the lobby of her building on W. 25th St. and Sixth Ave. at 12:45 a.m. Mon., Aug. 20, pushed into the elevator behind her and grabbed her pubic area, police said. The victim fought and beat off the attacker, who grabbed her wallet and fled, police said. The suspect was described as a black man wearing dark clothes, about 25 years old, 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing about 200 pounds, police said.

Woman stabbed

Police responded to a report of a stabbing in an apartment at 120 Columbia St. in the Baruch Houses at 12:57 a.m. Sat., Aug. 18, and found a woman who had been stabbed several times in the torso. The victim, 30, was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition. Detectives at the Seventh Precinct are investigating the case.

Illegal cigarettes

Police arrested Darryl Hairston, 36, on Clinton St. between Rivington and Stanton Sts. on Monday evening, Aug. 20, and charged him with illegal sales of untaxed cigarettes. Police said Hairston had 13 cartons of major brand and untaxed cigarettes.

Bank-rob suspect

Police are seeking Anthony Randall, a suspect in the 5:35 p.m. robbery on June 26 of the North Fork bank branch at 100 W. 26th St. at the corner of Sixth Ave. Randal is described as a black man, 39 years old, with a mustache, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 185 pounds. Randall has a record of previous arrests for robbery, assault and weapon possession.

Cooper Square D.O.A.

The body of William Dong, 72, was found on the floor of his apartment in the JASA senior residence at 200 E. Fifth St. on Cooper Square. He had head injuries and the Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the cause of death.
