Rape charge
A woman in her 20s told police that she made an appointment with a man from a modeling agency Web site and had a few drinks with him at a bar in the Union Sq. area on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 13. She told police she remembers only leaving the bar in a cab with the suspect, having non-consensual sex with him someplace and then being let out of another cab in front of 90 Gold St. She told police the suspect introduced himself as Craig and she described him only as “having straight hair and wearing a blue shirt with a buttoned-down collar.”
Auto gone
A New Jersey man told police that the 2000 Acura he parked in a lot on Dominick St. at Varick St. on the morning of Jan. 12 was gone when he came back at 3:15 p.m. on Thurs. Jan. 13. An attendant reported that the car was not on the lot when he arrived at 6 a.m. Thursday, police said. The victim told police that the left rear door did not close properly and that an extra set of car keys were kept in an armrest compartment.
Dipper on bus
A visitor from the Netherlands told police that his portable CD player and cell phone were taken from his backpack while riding a city bus Downtown at 8:40 p.m. Sat. Jan. 8. The victim said he first noticed that the pack had been opened and the articles missing when he got off the bus at Church and Barclay Sts.
Pocket cut
Transit undercover officers arrested a suspect for stealing the wallet of a man in the Fulton St. subway station on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 8. Police said plainclothes officers observed the suspect, Wilson Pride, slicing the victim’s trouser pocket with a razor. The wallet, with an unspecified amount of money, and the razor were recovered, police said.
Credit card larceny
Police arrested Latchmie Fanfair, 24, a waitress at the Cabana Seaport restaurant on Pier 17, on Jan. 13 in connection with the theft of $13,000 from various credit cards over the previous five days. She was charged with forgery and grand larceny after the management of Cabana reported the thefts to police. Released on her own recognizance, Fanfair is scheduled to appear in court on April 12. A manager at Cabana did not return a call for comment.
Identity theft
A resident of Sullivan St. in Soho told police on Jan. 3 that $8,000 in unauthorized charges at various stores were made on his credit card, exhausting the credit line. The card itself had not been stolen, police said.
Wall St. lift
A Long Island man who works on the building staff of 44 Wall St. told police that he received a phone call at 7:30 p.m. on Wed. Jan. 12 from his credit card company asking about a new $200 charge. The victim said that was the first time he discovered that his credit card was missing. It was apparently stolen sometime before 5 p.m. that day from his coat that had been hanging in an unsecured locker in the C-level of the building at Wall and William Sts. where he works.
