Shot in the neck
An argument between two groups of men at Cozy Soup and Burger, at 739 Broadway near Astor Place, around 5:25 a.m. Mon., Feb. 16, ended with one man shot in the neck, police said.
An argument inside the diner between three Latino men and four black men continued when they left the club, police said. One of the black men pulled a gun and fired several shots, one of them hitting the victim in the neck. The suspect drove off with his three friends in a dark car parked nearby, and the victim’s friends fled, leaving him bleeding on the pavement, police said.
A 911 call brought police to the scene, as well an Emergency Medical Service team, who took the victim, Omar Ramnarine, 32, to Bellevue Hospital in critical but stable condition. Police said that one of the victim’s friends might also have sustained a grazing bullet wound on the arm.
Last June, a woman sustained a grazing wound in gunfire that erupted outside the restaurant.
Hot Post truck
The driver of a New York Post delivery truck left the vehicle at the curb in front of a store at 301 E. Fourth St. at the corner of Avenue C with the motor idling and the keys in the ignition while he went inside around 7:05 a.m. Mon., Feb 16, police said. An unidentified suspect got in and drove off in the empty truck, police said. There were no arrests by press time on Tues., Feb. 17.
‘I’ll kill you’
Police arrested Eric Rivers, 44, a resident of the Project Rescue shelter, 317 Bowery, and charged him with assaulting and robbing a fellow resident, 39, around 11:45 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 5. Rivers attacked the victim with a broomstick and told him, “Open your locker and give me your wallet or I’ll kill you,” police said. Rivers was being held in lieu of $5,000 bail pending a March 11 court appearance.
Not very fly
Police arrested Jason Murray, 25, of Montclair, N.J., around 2:45 a.m. Fri., Feb. 13, inside Kiss & Fly, the club at 409 W. 13th St., and charged him with assault for hitting a fellow patron, 28, in the face with a glass. The suspect was charged with second-degree assault, possession of a weapon (the glass) and possession of marijuana after police found a plastic bag containing pot in his pocket when they arrested him. Murray was freed on bail pending a May 14 court appearance.
Mah-jongg job
Police arrested a father and son for a knifepoint robbery on Sat., Feb. 7, in a mah-jongg parlor at 109 Eldridge St. between Grand and Broome Sts. Shui Li Guo, 56, of Maryland, and his son, Xin Shan Guo, 27, of Brooklyn, entered the place around 12:30 a.m., when Xin Shan pulled a knife and Shui Li took a total of $400 from the patrons, according to the complaint filed by the Manhattan District Attorney. A witness phoned 911 and police arrested the suspects on first- and second-degree robbery charges. They were being held pending a May 4 court appearance.
Nicotine fit hits
A man who was refused a cigarette just outside The Monster bar, 80 Grove St., around 7 p.m. Mon., Feb 9, hit the victim, 63, in the head with a bottle and then walked off, police said. The victim followed the suspect and began to remonstrate, but the suspect hit him again with the bottle and fled into the subway station at Christopher St. and Seventh Ave. The suspect called police, who arrested Brian Smith, 39, inside the station and charged him with second-degree assault and reckless endangerment. Smith was held in lieu of $2,500 bail pending a March 11 court appearance.
