A.T.M. robbery, literally
Unknown thieves stole an automated teller machine and the $200 in it from in front of 116 West Houston St. between Thompson and Sullivan Sts. sometime during the early hours of Fri., March 20. A neighbor called the owner at 8 a.m. to report the theft, and the last recorded withdrawal was at about 3 a.m., police said.
Bag grabbed
A woman, 25, was walking at Thompson and West Houston Sts. at 3:45 p.m. Sun., March 22, when a stranger came up and grabbed her bag, police said. The victim held onto the bag, but the thief tore it away and fled.
Noisy burglar
A woman resident of a first-floor apartment on Hester St. near Mott St. heard a suspicious noise around 11:15 p.m. Sun., March 22, and went to the kitchen to investigate, police said. The woman, 22, saw a flashlight shining into her kitchen widow, and a moment later saw the burglar about to climb in. The suspect fled when he spotted the woman, police said.
Josephine did it!
A woman patron of Buddha Bar, 25 Little W. 12th St., struck up a conversation with two male patrons around 11 p.m. Thurs., March 19, when another woman began arguing with her and threw a glass in her face, police said. The victim, 25, took herself to St. Vincent’s Hospital, where she received stitches for a cut on her upper lip. The suspect, known only as Josephine and described as a white woman about 22 years old with long, wavy hair, was not apprehended, police said.
iPod punch-up
Three suspects set upon a man at Lafayette and Bleecker Sts. at 10 a.m. Wed., March 25, police said. They punched the victim in the face, stole his iPod and fled.
Mugged while drunk
An 18-year-old East Village woman was trying to walk home after having had too much to drink around 1 a.m. Tues., March 24, when two men knocked her down and dragged her along the sidewalk on the southeast corner of Clarkson and Greenwich Sts., police said. The muggers took the victim’s bag with a BlackBerry, an iPod, New York University ID, credit cards and $60 in cash, police said.
He took iPhone
A Village woman, 46, was walking in front of 228 W. 11th St. between Waverly Place and W. Fourth St. at about 9:25 p.m. Thurs., March 26, when a man came up behind her, put his hand over her mouth and demanded her iPhone, police said. The mugger pushed the victim to the pavement, took her wallet out of her bag with credit cards and $5 in cash along with her iPhone and fled, police said.
Cut on the neck
A Bronx man, 50, was walking on the southwest corner of W. Fourth and Cornelia Sts. around 5:40 a.m. Sat., March 28, when two muggers came from behind, pushed him to the pavement and cut him on the side of the neck with an unknown object, police said. They took the victim’s wallet with credit cards, personal papers and $20 in cash and the victim’s T-Mobile cell phone and fled.
Alaska House heist
A burglar smashed the plate-glass window of Alaska House, a gallery dedicated to the work of indigenous Alaskans at 109 Mercer St., around 6 a.m. Sun., March 22, and made off with an undetermined number of walrus ivory bracelets and mukluks (fur boots). The thief, recorded on a surveillance camera tape, was after a large, flat-screen television monitor visible through the front window, but failed to remove it.
Club stabbings
Police arrested two men who who had refused to leave Club Promenade, 215 W. 28th St., at the 4:30 a.m. closing time on Sun., March 29, then gotten involved in the stabbing of two bouncers and two coat checkers.
Abdul Taylor, 25, of Long Island City, Queens, was charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal mischief and weapons possession for stabbing the four victims. Kenneth Bradley, 31, of Cambria Heights, Brooklyn, was charged with assault and tampering with criminal evidence for trying to dispose of the knife, police said.
All four victims were taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in stable condition.
