Baruch drug bust Housing Police executing a search warrant of the residence of Dwayne Davis, age 52, Apt. 3C, 140 Columbia St. in the Baruch Houses, shortly before 8 a.m. Thurs., June 10, found more than 100 small zip-lock bags of crack cocaine, three bags of marijuana, a digital scale, a supply of zip-lock bags and $599 in cash. Davis told the arresting officers, “The rest is in my suit pocket. That’s all of it. It’s mine. My wife had nothing to do with it,” according to the complaint filed with the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. Police found a plastic bag with a rock of crack cocaine in a pocket of his suit jacket in a closet. Police also found crack cocaine in a rolled-up $10 bill in the bedroom where they arrested Davis. He was being held in lieu of bail pending a July 7 court appearance on several charges of drug possession with intent to sell.
Stomps puppy to death An East Village man, 30, was walking his new puppy in Tompkins Square Park at E. Seventh St. and Avenue A around 6:15 p.m. Fri., June 18, when a suspect kicked the animal and stomped on its head, police said. The owner took the 4-month-old puppy to an animal hospital where it was declared dead. Witnesses called police who arrested John Lendino, 52, of Brooklyn, and charged him with aggravated animal cruelty. Lendino was freed pending a Sept. 8 court appearance.
Charged in shooting Ornell Caesar, 18, one of three young men arrested June 18 for shooting a fourth man in the leg on the sidewalk in front of 55 E. Ninth St., was charged with first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Caesar, a Queens resident, was being held in lieu of $150,000 bail pending a July 22 court appearance, a spokesperson for Manhattan D.A. Vance said. The other two men, Chad Tucker, 20, and Craig Bracero, 25, who were arrested along with Caesar, were not charged in connection with the incident and were released.
MacDougal heist A man walked into Land of Buddha jewelry store, 128 MacDougal St., around 1 p.m. Wed., June 23, and pulled a knife on the woman attending the shop. He told her, “Don’t shout. Don’t look at me,” and ordered her to the rear of the shop, where he tied her hands, police said. The thief, described only as a white Hispanic man, took a gold-and-opal necklace and a silver-and-turquoise necklace, 20 silver bangles and 25 silver rings with a total value of $7,400, police said.
Bribery charge Police charged Christopher Gikas, 19, with bribery for offering $500 to police at Greenwich Village’s Sixth Precinct in exchange for releasing his friend, who was being arrested at 3:50 a.m. Wed., June 23.
Shoplift choking An employee of the Duane Reade at 24 E. 14th St. confronted a man who left the store at 12:25 p.m. Thurs., June 24, with stolen items and asked him to come back and return the merchandise, police said. The suspect refused and began choking and punching the employee. Police arrested Joel Feliciano Colon, 32, and charged him with robbery.
Took his watch A Battery Park City man, 23, told police he was sitting on a stoop at the northwest corner of Hudson and W. 11th Sts. at 3:30 a.m. Fri., June 25, and became nervous when two men stood over him. So he asked them, “What do you want? This?” and took off his watch. The two strangers said yes, grabbed the Bulgari watch valued at $4,500 and fled.
Girls raid boutique Police arrested a group of teenage girls on Thurs., June 17, in connection with two shoplifting sprees in Midtown and Nolita.
The suspects, Starasia Adams, her sister Janasia Adams, both 16, and Deja Smallwood, 17, all of Brooklyn, along with four accomplices, crowded into the Tory Burch boutique at 257 Elizabeth St. in Nolita around 5:30 p.m. They distracted the employees and made off with more than $1,000 worth of wallets, belts and small bags, according to charges filed by the Manhattan D.A.’s Office. Police said they recovered stolen items from Starasia Adams and Smallwood. Also arrested were Edina Padilla, Taquasha John, Lynelia Austin and Kenisha Cole.
Two hours earlier, Smallwood, Starasia Adams and Lillett Picken, 17, entered the Yves St. Laurent shop at 3 E. 57th St. along with the other suspects, distracted employees and stole more than $1,000 of belts and sunglasses, according to a related but separate complaint. The earlier theft was discovered after police found Yves St. Laurent merchandise on Smallwood and Starasia Adams when they were arrested for the Elizabeth St. larceny.
Teen bites woman An off-duty court officer told police that she tried to help a Queens woman who had passed out on the southeast corner of Broadway and Canal St. around 4:47 p.m. Thurs., June 17, when a 14-year-old girl grabbed her right arm and bit her on the leg. The court officer was in civilian clothes but was wearing her shield around her neck at the time of the incident, police said. The girl was charged with felony assault as a juvenile offender.
Woman bites cops Police ordered a woman who was lying across the sidewalk on the southeast corner of Christopher and West Sts. and blocking it at 11:10 p.m. Sun., June 27, after the Gay Pride March, to move. She didn’t, and when the officers tried to handcuff her, she swung her arms, kicked and bit the arresting officer twice and the sergeant once. Tonya Hernandez, 25, was charged with assaulting police officers.
‘Who hit me?’ A man, 24, told police that he was struck in the face around 2:55 a.m. Tues., June 22, when he fell to the pavement and hit his head in front of Alibi lounge, 116 MacDougal St. The victim, who said he didn’t know who hit him, was taken to Bellevue Hospital.
Meatpacking arrest Police who were called to break up an unruly crowd in front of Abe & Arthur’s, 409 W. 14th St., around 1 a.m. Wed., June 23, arrested one man who refused to move on. The suspect, Sebastian Livesey, 25, refused to be handcuffed, flailed his arms and was subdued with spray, police said. He was charged with misdemeanor obstruction of government administration.
Soho shoplifters Police arrested two women on Sat., June 12, in connection with two shoplifting incidents in Soho and also for snatching a bag from a patron of a Village restaurant a month earlier.
Robin Seabrook, 47, and Tanya Odom, 49, were charged with the 5:30 p.m. theft of more than $1,000 worth of sunglasses from the Solstice Sunglasses boutique at 107 Spring St. at Mercer St.
Earlier that day, the two suspects stole four dresses from a gallery at 112 Greene St., according to the charges filed by the D.A.’s Office. The earlier theft was discovered when the dresses were found on Odom and Seabrook after their arrest in the Spring St. incident.
On May 13, Seabrook and Odom teamed up to steal a bag from a patron at Otto, the Mario Batali restaurant at One Fifth Ave., according to the charges. The defendants were recorded on a May 13 surveillance tape that shows Odom kicking a bag on the floor of the restaurant over to Seabrook, who picked it up, the charges say.
Subway rob attempt Todd Holley, 32, was arrested on June 8 in connection with the May 30 assault and attempted robbery of a woman in the subway station at Prince St. and Broadway. Police said a witness saw Holley pulling a bag away from the woman around 8 p.m. and intervened, pulling the bag away from the suspect. Holley then punched the woman in the face, the complaint says. Holley was being held pending a July 6 court appearance on charges of assault and attempted robbery.
Bag picked A woman, 25, visiting from Korea, felt her bag being jostled at 6:30 p.m. Sun., June 20, while she was on the southwest corner of West Houston St. and Broadway, police said. The woman checked the bag and found her wallet gone, police said. A half-hour later, two unauthorized charges totaling $1,694 were made on her credit card at the J. Crew shop in Soho, police said.
Gone from stroller A mother who parked her daughter’s stroller by a bench in Vesuvio Park, at the corner of Spring and Thompson Sts, at 11:30 a.m. Thurs., June 17, while she pushed her child on a swing returned a half-hour later to find her bag, which she had left in the stroller, was stolen. She lost an iPad, a cell phone, personal ID, credit cards and $900 in cash, police said.
Gone from Pier 40 A Brooklyn man, 23, left his bag at the side of the soccer field on Pier 40 at West Houston St. at 9:40 p.m. Wed., June 16, while he played a game and returned at 11 p.m. to find the bag had been stolen. He lost two cell phones, a digital camera, ID and $200 in cash, police said.
Car door unlocked A New Jersey man, 41, parked his car at the northeast corner of Varick and Canal Sts. at 5:30 p.m. Thurs., June 17, and went to a deli two blocks away. He returned 45 minutes later to find that his wallet, which he had left on the front passenger seat of the unlocked car, had been stolen, police said. He lost ID and $120 in cash.
Stolen at club A woman, 24, visiting from Japan, left her bag on a shelf behind her seat at Greenhouse, the club at 150 Varick St., around 2:30 a.m. Fri., June 18, and checked it 10 minutes later only to find her wallet had been stolen from it, police said. She lost her Japanese passport, credit cards and $150 in cash.
