The city’s red and orange COVID cluster zones will need to see “more progress” before state restrictions on businesses, schools and houses of worship can be lifted, Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Monday.

For days de Blasio has said that coronavirus numbers in Brooklyn and Queens hotspots have been “leveling off” but has not released data revealing the area’s infection rates.

De Blasio added that the city has seen “notable” progress in one area in particular, the central Queens red zone, which covers Rego Park and Forest Hills, stating that COVID numbers have gotten “substantially better” in those neighborhoods.

“That’s a good example” de Blasio said. “To everyone in those red and orange zones, continue to dig deeper. We need to have people wearing those masks, practicing social distancing and all of the basics.”
