Queens congresswoman mugged in Washington D.C.

Rep Grace Meng didn’t let a mugging get her down while conducting some congressional business in Washington, D.C., Wednesday.

The Queens representative said she was doing fine after a mugger struck her on the back of her head and stole her Gucci purse Tuesday night in the capital.

“Obviously, things could have been much worse. I thank the U.S. Capitol Police and the District of Columbia Police for responding quickly and professionally.” she said in a statement.

Meng’s office said she suffered a bruise on her chin and returned to work. In fact she didn’t appear to show any signs of injury when she addressed a congressional luncheon honoring Sephardic Jewry Wednesday.

Several of her Queens colleagues sent their regards and support via social media.

“My office and community is praying for you Congresswoman Grace Meng. Let us know if you need anything,” tweeted City Councilman Donovan Richards, who joined Meng at a rally in support of airport workers at JFK last week.
