Villager photo by Jefferson Siegel
At the Hub Station on Morton St., at the recent opening of her photo exhibit, “Hot Seat: Portraits of Fabulous Female Pedicab Drivers,” Melissa von Ludwig, left, was joined by Norman Siegel, the civil rights attorney, who is running for public advocate. Councilmember Tony Avella, a mayoral candidate, also attended. Von Ludwig is completing a book, “Hot Seat: I Hit the Streets and the Streets Hit Back,” about her three years as a bicycle-taxi driver. “Driving a pedicab made me a stronger person, not just physically, but mentally too,” she said. The show closes May 14.
