Vice President Joe Biden was at the Brooklyn Bridge last Wednesday to announce $30 million in federal funds for repairing the 127-year-old landmark. The city will pay more than half the cost of the $508 million project, which is set to finish by 2014. In addition to repainting the bridge, approach ramps will be widened to ease traffic flow. “This and the Golden Gate Bridge are the two most recognized bridges in the entire United States of America…in the world,” Biden said. Due to construction, the bridge’s Manhattan-bound side will be closed 24 weekends. The bike path and walkway will stay open.
