Workers loaded voting machines from a polling site at the apartment building at 70 E. 10th St., between Broadway and Fourth Ave., onto a truck on Nov. 4 to take them to the Board of Elections. For the unofficial count on election night, poll workers give the machines’ numbers to the police, who call them into the B.O.E. and Associated Press. Afterward, the machines are sealed until the official count — critical in tight races — is done at B.O.E.
