On Saturday afternoon, Time’s Up! volunteer Laurie Mittelmann and other cyclists road down Broadway from Union Square to the Sea Of People project along the shoreline Downtown. Participants, dressed in blue, planned to hold hands and stretch north in two columns along the projected eastern and western waterlines that may one day redefine Lower Manhattan if the predicted 10-foot sea-level rise scenario comes true. The event’s goal was to dramatize the potentially disastrous effects of global warming, in this case, specifically on New York City.
