Many of Downtown’s schools celebrated the Lunar New Year over the past two weeks, starting with P.S. 124’s festival on Feb. 6, left. The New York Chinese Cultural Center sponsored performance workshops at the Division St. school, and students ages 8 to 14 took the stage at the Feb. 6 celebration, along with professional performers from the Dance China NY company. On Feb. 12, the Shuang Wen school on Cherry St. held its own festivities to welcome in the Year of the Tiger, featuring students at the dual-language English-Mandarin school singing and dancing, right.
