Battery Park City resident Gabriel Baltierra, 6, below, tried out his new Angelboy skateboard on Christmas. His father said Gabriel asked Santa Claus for the skateboard and the man in the red suit came through. Above, one of Santa’s helpers, Amadou Tandia, normally wears a Statue of Liberty costume to greet Battery Park tourists on their way to the Liberty Island ferry, but he wore a Santa costume for Christmas. Tandia, who lives not in the North Pole but on South St., said “I dressed to make kids happy.” He started at 8 a.m. and decided to call it a day at 1 p.m. and sat down in the park.
