King, a 20-month-old black lab, received his F.D.N.Y. badge Wednesday at the Engine 33/Ladder 9 firehouse on Great Jones St. He is named for Firefighter Robert C. King, Jr. of Engine 33 who was killed at the World Trade Center on 9/11. The firefighter’s family attended the ceremony. Before the dog joins the firehouse, he has to do more explosive detection training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
