Chambers St. will be closed between Hudson and Greenwich Sts. this weekend from 10 p.m. – 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, the Lower Manhattan Construction Command Center reports. The Pavarini McGovern construction company needs to close the street to hoist steel to the roof of 157 Chambers St., which is being converted into a 17-story residential building. Workers are adding two stories to the roof. The street will be open to emergency vehicles during the construction.
Cortlandt St., which had been closed for four months because of M.T.A. subway renovations near the World Trade Center site, has just reopened to street traffic.
