The incident began on the southbound No. 2 train when two suspects got on at Intervale Avenue just before 1:15 a.m. and robbed the victim of his backpack, according to investigators. The suspects slashed the 26-year-old victim in the face and the back of the head during the robbery, authorities said. recommended reading Major crime in NYC by borough The victim got off the train at the Jackson Avenue-Westchester Avenue station and sought help, police said. He was taken to Lincoln Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, police said. Police are still searching for the suspects, who they said remained on the train after the victim got off.
