‘Quilt kids’ pledge to play a part in saving planet
The Climate Quilt Campaign came full circle last week at P.S. 3 on Hudson St., when the climatic comforter returned to the school where it kicked off in September during Global Climate Week. At the P.S. 3 event, the ever-growing quilt was unveiled, with its number of recycled “pledge patches” now up to 350. After its launch, the quilt went on to a New Jersey school, where students added their own pledge patches. The bio-sensitive bedspread is scheduled for additional stops in the U.S. and on different continents. The campaign’s idea is to encourage youth to make a difference in protecting the environment. Children all around the world can get involved by going to www.climatequilt.org. The ecologically conscious bed covering will be presented to President Obama and leaders at the United Nations’ Climate Conference in Copenhagen in December.
