On Feb. 8, Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Center, at Greenwich and Charles Sts., hosted “Haiti: Hope Help & Relief.” The event’s goal was to raise enough money in one night to provide 50,000 tents for homeless survivors of Haiti’s earthquake. From left to right: singers Mary J. Blige and Wyclef Jean; hotelier/developer Andre Balazs, fashionista Karan and music mogul Andre Harrell. Also attending were Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Whoopi Goldberg, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, TV journalist Soledad O’Brien and rockers The Edge, Patti Smith and Michael Stipe. O’Brien was the emcee, Blige performed at dinner, Jean gave the keynote speech and Goldberg did the live auction. Balazs reportedly hosted the after-party at the Boom Boom Room atop his swank, new Standard Hotel in the Meat Market.
