Richard Parsons, chairperson and chief executive officer of Time-Warner, will address New York University’s 172nd commencement exercises on Thurs., May 13, in Washington Sq. Park.
Parsons, one of the few black executives at the head of a major corporation, will receive an honorary Doctor of Commercial Science degree and will deliver the traditional response on behalf of all the honorees at the 2004 N.Y.U. commencement.
Others to receive honorary degrees this year are Mohamed ElBaradei, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (Doctor of Laws); C. Duncan Rice, principal and vice chancellor of the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and a former dean and vice chancellor of N.Y.U. (Doctor of Humane Letters); Judith Rodin, outgoing president of the University of Pennsylvania (Doctor of Humane Letters); and Tatsura Toyoda, senior advisor to the board of Toyota Motor Corp. and an alumnus of the N.Y.U. Stern School of Business (Doctor of Commercial Science).
