Town hall meeting on Noho, Soho and L.E.S.

A town hall meeting and reception for residents and business owners in Noho, Soho and the Lower East Side will be held Thurs. March 2 at 7 p.m. at the Public Theater, at 425 Lafayette St. (between E. Fourth St. and Astor Pl.).

Invited panelists include State Senators Martin Connor and Tom Duane, Assemblymember Deborah Glick, a representative of State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, Deputy Mayor Ed Skyler, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, and Councilmembers Alan Gerson and Rosie Mendez. City officials and department commissioners are also expected to be in attendance, including top brass from the Police and Transportation departments.

Topics will include New York University expansion, bar and restaurant proliferation and its effects on traffic congestion and quality of life.

The forum is being organized by the Noho Neighborhood Association, Lower East Side Alliance and the Soho Alliance and is also sponsored by The Public Theater, Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation and the Soho Journal. It will be followed by a reception for new Borough President Stringer and new Councilmember Mendez.
