Who has broadband internet?

Three of the five boroughs have access rates that are higher than the state and national averages.

Three of the five New York City boroughs have rates of broadband internet subscriptions that are higher than the state and national average, according to 2013-2017 data from the Census Bureau's American Community Survey.

Manhattan (New York County) leads the city with an estimated 81.9 percent of households having broadband internet access. Staten Island (Richmond County) and Queens follow, with 79.9 percent and 79.7 percent respectively. The state has an average of 78.9 percent and the nation has an average of 78 percent.

Brooklyn (Kings County) is below those averages, with 75.4 percent, and the Bronx is further below, with 70.4 percent. Click on the map for details on any county, or check on the table below.
