Teen Marine Adventure On land and sea, teens entering 6th, 7th and 8th grades can engage in scientific explorations learning first-hand how human activity affects the Hudson River. Art Portfolio Development For middle and high school students wanting to attend specialized art high schools and colleges. Working with BPCPC artist/educator Miki Iwamura, students will develop a body of work to present with their application while developing and strengthening foundational skills. Free Fridays Explore the lives of men and women as they embarked on transatlantic journeys that would transform their lives. Fri., June 16 from 5-9pm. From 5 – 9pm: Visit the exhibitions, including Antwerp=America, Eugeen Van Mieghem and the Emigrants of the Red Star Line, featuring Van Mieghem’s portraits of emigrants departing the port of Antwerp for new lives in the new world. Summer Camp at South Street Seaport For two weeks in mid-to-late August, campers will explore the history of New York through exciting workshops taught by artists and museum educators. Each week-long session takes advantage of the Museum’s unique resources to investigate topics in marine and environmental science, archaeology and history through a curriculum that involves hands-on learning, creative arts projects and opportunities to explore the city’s waterways aboard the 1885 schooner Pioneer. Children’s Introduction to Martial Arts – A fun, high energy fitness program for kids that incorporates elements from the martial arts. Sun., July 9, 16, 23 & 30. Ages 3-6 from 10:30-11am. Ages 7-11 from 11:15 to noon. $45 members, $60 non-members.

Teen Fitness – Get in shape with weight training and agility drills. Ages 14-17. Wednesdays beginning in July at 4pm. $75 members, $105 non-members.

Babysitters’ Training – Learn how to handle unexpected situations calmly and competently. Ages 11-15. Tues., Wed. and Thurs., July 18-20 from 5-8pm (Three course session.) $50 members, $60 non-members.

Yoga – An introduction to Hatha Yoga’s physical postures and deep breathing practices. Wednesdays July 5 – Aug. 2. 6:15pm for level 2 and 7:15pm for level 1. $68 members, $95 non-members.
