A Bronx man was sentenced for his involvement in multiple gang-related activities, prosecutors announced Thursday.
Michael White, 30, was convicted of racketeering conspiracy, attempted murder in aid of racketeering, and a firearms offense in October 2018. He was sentenced on Feb. 13 to 20 years in prison.
According to trial testimony, from 2010 through October 2017, White was a member of the Young Gunnaz street gang based out of the Mill Brooks Houses. White was also a member of MBG, also known as “Money B*tches Guns,” a local gang also based in the Mill Brook Houses.
As a part of his membership, White shot seven people. On Jan. 25, 2010, White shot and injured a 16-year-old rival on a street corner in the Mill Brook Houses. On Jan. 31, 2010, White shot and injured two people: the first being an 18-year-old rival at a baby shower and the second being a a rival gang member near a building in the Mill Brook Houses, causing the individual to suffer life threatening injuries.
On Feb. 12, 2010, testimony states that White shot and injured another 18-year-old rival outside a public school. Finally, on Oct. 28, 2012, White shot and injured three individuals in the Cypress Avenue Subway Station.
“Michael White, a gang leader, was responsible for a shooting spree in and around NYCHA’s Mill Brook Houses,” said U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman. “He shot rival gang members in front of a public school, in a community center, and in a subway station. Today’s sentence recognizes the serious impact of gun violence in our communities. We will continue to aggressively prosecute all who engage in these senseless acts of violence.”
