Cops seek man who shattered Black History Month mural at East Harlem restaurant in possible hate crime

Police are investigating the shattering of a mural in East Harlem as a possible hate crime.

According to police, at 12:40 a.m. on Feb. 10, an unknown man threw a paving stove at a plate glass window at Sapoara, located at 2262 First Avenue, which caused the window to break. The glass window depicted a mural in tribute to Black History Month.

The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported as a result. The NYPD indicated that the incident is being investigated by the Hate Crimes Task Force.
