Police have identified the 16-year-old boy shot to death in Queens on Wednesday afternoon as they continue to hunt for his killer, who authorities now believe went to the same school.
Officers from the 103rd Precinct found Sincere Jazmin unconscious and shot in the chest at a deli located at 171-42 Liberty Ave. in Jamaica at around 2:42 p.m. on March 26.
EMS rushed the wounded teen to Jamaica Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police believe Jazmin was gunned down moments after he stepped off a nearby Q83 bus. Sources familiar with the case said a masked gunman wearing grey clothing approached his victim and took deadly aim. It’s believed the shooting was connected to a dispute at the school, which was not yet identified.
As the killer took off eastbound on Liberty Avenue, cops said, the victim stumbled to a nearby deli in search of help and collapsed.
According to a report by ABC7, workers attempted to aid the boy, but he did not communicate what had taken place. “I don’t know what happened. He’s coming from outside, I don’t know what happened,” deli worker Kenny Patel said.
The boy’s distraught father, made an emotional post on his Facebook page on Thursday, mourning the monumental loss.
“I’m so lost right now I can’t even explain how I’m feeling right now how hurt and heartbroken I am,” he wrote. “I’m just grateful I got to give my son a hug and kiss before he left out the house.”
No arrests have been made, and the investigation continues.
