In a ravine that has seen its fair share of historic round-trippers, Dodger Stadium — the third-oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball — will play host to the 2022 Home Run Derby for the first time ever on Monday night (8 p.m. ET, ESPN).

So it’s only natural that we could see some history made in the process.

Pete Alonso of the New York Mets is looking to become the first player ever to win the Home Run Derby three straight times after dominating the 2019 and 2021 editions. He’s also looking to join Ken Griffey Jr. as the only player to win the competition three times at all.

It’ll be no easy task as a loaded field of the game’s best power hitters will test their mettle at Dodger Stadium, which is normally considered a pitcher-friendly park.

Dodger Stadium Dimensions

  • Left field: 330 ft.
  • Left-center: 385 ft.
  • Center: 395 ft.
  • Right-center:385 ft.
  • Right field: 330 ft.

However, the park is conducive to the long ball. According to Statcast’s Home-Run Factor leaderboard, which measures the percentage of home runs above or below the median of 100 compared to other venues, Dodger Stadium’s mark of 125 this season is tied for second in the majors behind only the Cincinnati Reds’ Great American Ball Park.

That means we should see an abundance of home runs:
