Arch Manning commits to Texas: 5-star quarterback had intrigue from Alabama, Georgia

Arch Manning commits to Texas

The nephew of Super Bowl MVP’s Peyton and Eli Manning, Arch has officially committed to play football at Texas.

In a tweet Thursday afternoon, the five-star recruit announced his decision to join Steve Sarkisian’s squad as the #1 overall recruit of the 2023 class.

In 10 games last season, Manning threw for over 2,000 yards and 26 touchdown passes to just four picks.

The Isidore Newman High School quarterback has totaled more than 6,000 passing yards and 81 passing touchdowns against 18 interceptions in three high school seasons.

Top schools like Alabama, Georgia, and LSU have all offered the young Manning scholarships before the recruit chose Texas.

The Longhorns are coming off a very strong recruiting class. Quarterback Quin Ewers transferred there after the 2021 from Ohio St. and joins one of the top recruiting class offensive line groups in the nation.

Manning Family Tree

For Arch, the announcement from Texas means he will begin his college career in the BIG-12, while the rest of his family have deep roots within the SEC. Grandfather, Archie and uncle, Eli both excelled at Ole Miss, while other uncle Peyton dominated at Tennessee.

Arch is the son of the third Manning brother Cooper.

Of course, while the family dynasty do have a strong background in the Southeastern Conference, Texas is set to join the SEC with Oklahoma in 2025 so there isn’t too big of a difference there.
